Pyrite Beads with Antique 14k Clasp

$0.00

This product is unavailable

We've strung 2.9 mm faceted pyrite beads on sturdy coated beading wire finishing the ends in 14k gold crimp covers with an antique 14k bolt clasp that can double as a pendant or charm holder.

I love their subtle glitter; the steely warmth works with a variety of other textures and colors.

Details: Measuring approximately 17 1/8". The beads have a smoldering golden-grey sheen and romantic sparkle as the facets catch the light. The clip is marked for 14k.

History: Pyrite has a fascinating history: according to ancient Chinese tradition it's a metaphysical deterrent to crocodile attack. In the 19th century pyrite was often called "Fool's Gold" for it's ability to fool eager prospectors as it does sometimes coincide with deposits of gold. In the 16th and 17th century iron pyrite was used as a form of ignition in firearms because it creates a spark when struck against steel; this characteristic has been known since ancient times and may be why the stone is associated with astrological fire signs, most notably Leo.
